About AIRUS
How It All Started
In 2022, AIRION was awarded a contract to develop AIRUS (Advanced Inflight Relief Universal System). Initially conceptualized through the AFWERX Challenge in 2020 as part of the Inflight Bladder Relief System (IBRS) initiative, AIRUS was designed to meet the critical needs of U.S. Armed Forces pilots and aircrew, offering advanced bladder relief solutions for both male and female users.
Designing, Testing, & Fielding AIRUS
Operating on an accelerated timeline, AIRUS advanced from TRL-1 to TRL-9 in just two years. The system moved rapidly from design and development through rigorous ground testing, passing over 20 MIL-STD tests and certifications, extensive EMI testing, and comprehensive flight testing across multiple platforms. In 2024, AIRUS was officially launched and fielded on GSA with over 100 SKUs, demonstrating AIRION’s dedication to innovation and the rapid deployment of cutting-edge defense technologies.
